My personal testimony

Knowing God still loves me and I have the assurance of Heaven even through all my mistakes. I rely on his guidance as a good and loving Father and I find safety and peace in all aspects of life through His guidance.

I had accepted Jesus as my savior as a small child, but wasn’t encouraged to grow and strengthen my relationship with Him. As a result, I backslid and lived several years of my life doing whatever “pleased” me and felt right or good according to what I wanted. I wasted years of my life in drugs, alcohol and promiscuous relationships. I found myself in jail, wondering how I had gotten in such terrible shape. It wasn’t easy, but God helped me to turn my life around, one small thing at a time. I’ve been living my life serving Christ for over 20 years now, and I still have to fight with the grip of that old worldly lifestyle, but I do the things I know to do, trust in Him to guide me and help me through the things where I don’t know what to do and let God have His glory in my life.

Looking back over all the bad things I’ve done, I can see, and remember feeling God’s presence in keeping me safe. He had his protection on me while I lived the way I wanted. But like a good and loving Father, he allowed me to see how my decisions without Him lead to a place I don’t ever want to be. This is how I can say I was saved as a small child, even though I didn’t live for Him. God guides and disciplines His children to keep them close and safe.
