My personal testimony
I am so grateful today that I don’t have religion, but I do have a personal relationship with my savior.
Before I started my relationship with Jesus, I felt as though something was missing from my life.
I grew up third generation in a family of Roman Catholics. My family was very involved in the church and I was an Alter boy. At the age of 13 I realized that there was nothing I was getting from religion or being religious. I was empty and a rebellous youth. I floundered through the years with no spirituality in my life. I got married, had children and had a great job. I accomplished everything, on my own, and I thought I was on top of the world. The truth was that all those years I felt empty and was missing something. At 63, as my children were grown with children of their own, my son invited my wife and I to go to a church he was attending. I was hesitant to go and told my wife to go “check it out”. That Sunday, the Lord had other plans for me. I woke up early and told my wife I would go with her. The moment we walked through the door I knew something was different. The people greeting us were so nice and there was something different about them., to me they seemed so genuine. It seemed as though the Pastor was speaking directly to me, like he knew me and my situation. Something was stirring inside me and by the time the service ended I had asked for Jesus to come into my life. I immediately felt a sense of fulfillment, something that was missing for 50 years. I was surprised to see that my wife experienced the same thing and was right by my side.
I discovered God’s free gift of eternal life and it changed my life completely.
I now feel a sense of fulfillment in the void that I carried all those years.
I thank God that He was so patient with me for the 50 years that I stayed away from his loving presence.
I know that the life Jesus has given me is forever. And I’m assured that if I were to die today I would be in Heaven for eternity.
