My Personal Testimony

Before Christ came into my life I lived as though I was in control. Every thing that I touched soon went wrong. I asked my mother why this was as I lay recuperating from a surgery on the very day that I was to take a physical for a new, very good job. She put a bible in my hands and told me to read and pray. That day Jesus gave me a peace that I still couldn't understand. It still took God showing me through several tests and answered prayers before my faith started to solidify. When God answers a specific prayer for you and you know that the miracle was performed because you asked, it moves your faith to a different level. But we are human and I soon forgot and slipped back into my old ways. My loving Father answered another and yet another prayer and gave me confirmation that He is in control and not me.

I was to start a new job. The day before I was to start, I tore the ligaments and cartilage in my knee. I was devastated and discouraged but my mother consoled me and told me to pray and ask for guidance. She put a bible in my hands and told me to just start reading and praying. I did and soon began to feel better. As it turned out, God was working on my behalf even though I didn't know. This so called " good job" only lasted a few months and in the meantime I had gotten a solid job with a company that lasted until God opened up a better opportunity for me. God took me on a journey that helped strengthen my faith at every turn. Answered prayers and revelations that got me through some difficult times helped me to trust Him more.

My mother's guidance and faith and the guidance of the Holy Spirit gave me the courage and faith to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

Now that I have accepted Christ, He keeps me and my entire family in perfect peace. From my father, who is 98, to my mother, who is 94, my 4 siblings, my children and grandchildren are all in good health and protected by God's grace. This comes from God-fearing parents that taught us the value of faith. I keep them all covered in prayer because I know that God hears and answers prayer.

Before I even knew God, I know now that I was covered by the prayers of a praying mother. There are many near tragic incidents that I could relate, but God spared me through all of them. From a sinking ship in the Mediterranean Sea to that same ship on fire in Singapore, God has kept me. From Vietnam to Mobile Alabama, I have enjoyed the blessings of the Lord even when I was too stupid to realize it.

He has brought me too far and shown me too much to abandon me now. I trust His word that He would "never leave" me "nor forsake" me.
