My Personal Testimony
I can have confidence in all of this because of the Gospel, the Good News is Jesus. I know without a doubt that Jesus, the Son of God, Liverpool a perfect life so that He could pay the penalty for my sin by dying on the cross. But the story doesn’t end there. Although Jesus died; He was raised back to life to prove who He said He was and He is alive today through His Holy Spirit, who comes to live in the heart of everyone who believes, trusts in and calls on the name of Jesus.
Before I received eternal life, I knew something was missing as Jesus kept knocking on the door of my heart.
In the summer before my 5th grade year of school, I attended VBS. It was at VBS that God Really began to speak to my life as my teacher (Herman Robertson) talked about heaven and hell. Our pastor shared the Gospel during the teaching time every day and would speak of how if Jesus is knocking on your heart to open the door to let him in. It was a year later at Falls Creek youth camp that God Really began to stir (tug on) my heart in a stronger way. I was saved at Falls Creek but did not come forward to profess my faith in Jesus until a church service after camp.
I would like to say that there was a total transformation in my life, but if I did, I wouldn’t be being honest about my experience. Although I grew some in my faith, I had many years that I didn’t look like Jesus much at all. I tried to do the right things, and in some aspects, live a moral life, but I had a flawed view of the mercy and grace of God. During my college and young adult years, I was farther away from Jesus than I had ever been, as I lived for the world a lifestyle of partying and lust. It wasn’t until my mid to late 20s that God began to gradually bring me back into being who He has call me to be. When I truly started living for Him, I have experienced the peace, joy and grace of Jesus in my life. Although I have ups and downs, I do not know how I would navigate this life without the relationship I have with God.
Now that I have eternal life, I can turn to Jesus and celebrate the joys of life and to find peace, hope and comfort during the dark times of my life. I do not know what I would do without the hope o have in my Lord and Savior Christ.
Just recently my grandmother “Nana” passed away. I know that she trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. I do not know how I would make it through this without Jesus and the assurance of knowing I will see her in heaven again some day. God gives me a peace that is hard to explain unless you have experienced it yourself. This peace helps and comforts me through the hard times in my life. It is a continual comfort to know that I can always turn to him when I have problems and heartache in life.
I am confident and know for sure that I have eternal life and am going to heaven because of the truth of God’s Word and the experience of the personal relationship I have with God. His Spirit testifies with my spirit, that I am His child.
