My Personal Testimony
As I've become "of a certain age" (I just celebrated my 64th birthday after all), I've discovered just how much I need to have God and Jesus in my life on a daily basis and listen to Him. Don't get me wrong- it is still hard sometimes to keep my focus where it belongs and keep my eyes and ears on God. But over time it has gotten easier for me to hear that voice and know that it is God speaking to me, encouraging me, guiding me. For that, I am eternally grateful.
I am so glad to have the joy, comfort and hope of assurance of heaven in knowing God and Jesus Christ. God's unconditional love and acceptance gives me strength to carry on even when I get bogged down in thinking about the mistakes I've made in the past. He has given me a second chance at a life of contentment and peace so long as I have faith and trust in His plan for me.
For a very long time my faith was dominated by the thought that, " if God know's everything, then He knows EVERYTHING- and how can He possibly forgive me for my past mistakes?" I was so afraid that my sins could never be forgiven. Then, one night I remember praying for forgiveness- yet again- for things that the enemy would throw up to me over and over, and hearing God say to me, "I have already forgiven you- you just have to forgive yourself." Now, I am so grateful that we serve a gracious, forgiving God, and even though it is still hard for me to give myself a break, I have the gift of God's mercy to help me have peace.
The peace and understanding that God has shown me is available to all those who believe in God and Jesus Christ. I have complete confidence that God is by my side always. He will never abandon me or despise me no matter what I do. So long as I trust in Him, I have no doubt that I will have eternal life and will be in heaven with God some day.
