My Path to finding contentment and purpose in my life
Even with all the money, power and sex of a highly placed political position I still found myself lacking contentment and purpose in my life. When I was introduced to Jesus, who He was and why He came to die on the cross - it changed my whole perspective on my life. I now have the contentment that I once lacked and I feel that my life has true meaning as I grow in my relationship with God.
I had feelings of lack of contentment and no real purpose for my life or idea where I was going.
I was a highly placed political appointee in President Reagan's Administration - money, power and sex - what more could a young single man in his 30's want? But those things were not filling the void in my life. I was wondering "Is that all there is?"
I met some people who seemed to have the contentment and true joy in their lives that I lacked. They all went to church together so I thought the source of their contentment may have come from their involvement in that church. I started going to that church and met some wonderful people and wanted to become a member of that church. During the membership class I learned that Jesus was the "Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world". I suddenly understood why Jesus died on the cross for my sins and believed in Him to be the sacrifice for my sins and my savior.
I have a real joy in my heart built upon my knowledge that Jesus has paid the price for my sins already and I have eternal life that begins now - I can have a personal relationship with God. Through that relationship I have a sense of peace and purpose in my life and I know one day I will spend eternity with God in heaven.
My faith in God has led me on some wonderful adventures - like living in Russia for 3 1/2 years and helping to start 2 churches there. God has also helped me to be successful in my business.
I have total confidence that when I die I will spend eternity with God in heaven. The personal relationship with Him has already begun and it gets better and better as I mature as a believer in Jesus. Life is an adventure with God at the helm.
