My Life Now Has Purpose
It's crazy to think I was holding so tightly to my past because I thought it defined me and would lead me to the "Promise land" of life. All that I desired to preserve of my old life ended up being the very things that were holding my life back from experiencing true success, happiness, joy, and peace. I've discovered the real peace and fulfillment in life is in giving it all over to God to mold, make, and use in this short life on earth. I've heard it said that "Hope in the future gives you power in the present". This hope lives in me and gives me the power to face the challenges of this existence on earth, all the while He uses everything I experience to give me wisdom and understanding as an ambassador for His kingdom to come. This is my purpose for life.
Before receiving Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I was an angry, purposeless, disappointed individual with very low self-esteem.
I had no confidence in my abilities and no real direction for my life. I hustled my way through life with no real consideration for my future, just driven to feel of value. I was chasing after the "silver cup of victory," of which I had no real idea of what it was or meant; I was just chasing and hustling.
I finally came to the end of myself and understood that there was more to life than my immediate surroundings and actions. I sincerely confessed to the Lord my loneliness and desperate need for hope, purpose, and a relationship with the God that created all that surrounded me. I desperately wanted to realize peace within my troubled soul
Upon accepting Jesus as my Savior, I was overwhelmed with a peace that truly surpassed all of my understanding. This peace helped me clearly see where I had been running from God for years past and gave me a sense of connection and belonging to a father that would not disappoint or abandon me.
Since that day of surrender, I can sincerely say I do not get anxious or worried about things happening around me. I have a childlike faith and belief that He holds my future in His hands. He has proven this to me over and over throughout my life. It's a wonderful place to be and a powerful state of mind for sharing the gospel with others living in unnecessary, self-inflicted turmoil.
I have no doubt He knows my future, guides my present, and has forgiven me of my past selfish life before knowing Him. I am ready to pass from this world whenever He calls with no reservation.
