My life in a Nutshell
I didn't have any clear direction when I graduated high school and quickly became lost. Because of Jesus Christ, I am no longer lost, but found. He found me and set me free!
I grew up in church. I was raised in a home where going to church was a given: it was going to happen. My mother was a Sunday school teacher and my father was faithful in his attendance. For me, church (and Jesus) was no different than the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus: just part of my life and fun-and-game, but nothing real. When I turned 18, my church attendance went from nearly every Sunday to just a few times a year. I found that once I was somewhat on my own, I didn't have a real idea of what life was about.
When I graduated high school, I went straight to college without any real idea what I wanted from life. Once in college and "free," I flunked out of school. I tried again at a different school with better grades, but without a plan, I quit. I enlisted in the Air Force hoping to find a path, but an injury sidelined my training and I came home. Without any other real options, I re-enrolled in college and finished my degree.
In 1998, I met my future wife and God began doing a work in me. I was in love with a godly woman who would only date a godly man. I had to make a change! In 2000, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in my parents' back yard.
After that, God started making His changes in my life. None were easy, but all of them have been worth it. I now have a family and a clear direction in my life. I can't say it's all laid out, but I know personally the One who has the plan and trust Him completely.
God has been removing all the clutter from my life, little by little. I have been plagued with anxiety issues my whole life, but God is making life simply about trusting Him. Basically, I have nothing to be anxious about because none of it is my responsibility anymore. My job is to do my best and He takes care of the rest.
Besides all that, I now have the confidence to live life because my eternal life is secure. I know Jesus Christ paid the price for my salvation with His death on the cross. His resurrection proves I will live with Him forever!
