My Life decision
I always thought that I could do more good things than bad to please God, but this plan never felt right in my heart.
Before I received eternal life I led a life of deceit.
I would often lie to my parents in high school, altering the printed grades on my report card, and going out to drink heavily on the weekends. I was living for myself only.
I was in college when my dad began his personal relationship with Jesus Christ and he opened the bible to me for the first time. When he read to me, the words of Jesus elevated me and I felt His presence.
Now that I have accepted God's forgiveness through the work of His son Jesus on the cross, I don't have a desire to use the relationships of others to satisfy my selfish desires. I don't judge people any longer because I know we are all sinners and have fallen short of God's glory, we are all in need of God's forgiveness and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the only way.
One night I felt the weight of hopelessness. I had financial challenges and I was cutting corners at my job. I was in despair and I felt I was letting my family down. I got on my knees and reached out to God sincerely with my heart. I confessed that all my attempts to live life my way were selfish and hopeless. In my prayer, I brought to God all the sins of my past that I could bring to mind. I felt ashamed of my past actions, all the relationships I had used and the lies I told to cover things up. I laid it all before Him, and asked for His forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone.
By trusting in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I know I have eternal life and will spend it in heaven when I die. For it is by God's grace we are saved through faith in Jesus Christ, not of our own works, it is the gift of God.
