My journey has begun
Through Christ I have been able to calm my temper, soothe my worries, and become a more patient parent. I know in my heart that only because I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and surrendured to him has my life improved. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Before I received eternal life I was stressed and anxious, I was quick to lose my temper with my daughter and fell easily into depression.
Being a stay at home parent has a set of stresses all its own, which can be very hard to deal with. As my oldest daughter gets older those stresses have changed and I would find myself losing my temper so often it felt like I was angry all the time. After losing my temper I would often become depressed and feel like I wasn't being a good parent or role model for my kids. I would stay up late after my family had gone to bed asking myself why I react this way and what am I doing wrong that starts our days off so badly? After a time of this back and forth I began to pray for patience.
My husband asked that we go to church as a family, and from the first time we went together I felt a sense of peace wash over me as I listened to the message. As if the pastor was speaking directly to me and relating my own life back to scripture and showing me the path out of the darkness.
When I begin to feel myself getting angry or upset, I feel a push to stop and breathe. I am able to react, even when pushed to my limits, calmly and reasonably. I now get a sense of peace that I was lacking before and I know that this is the Lord reaching out to me.
Going from one child to two is not an easy transition. Doing so in the middle of a pandemic is about the hardest way I could think to do it. Through the stresses of the last year of the pandemic and being pregnant and then learning to be a parent to two children I have been able to be a calm and patient parent, as well as trusting in God and having faith that if we get sick or not it will be His will. I experience a state of calm and contentment that I have never known before in my life.
Every mother's job is to worry, but I am content in haven one less worry, When I die I know it will be God's will that I come home to Him. And I know that after that I will live forever in His love and grace in Heaven.
