My first real test of Salvation
God has the power to change our lives, we just have to listen and heed His Words. He gives the grace and the help to do so. It's in His might and power that we gain victory and control over our sinful flesh.
Before Jesus found me and started to change my life, I was an avid addict of many sinful things.
I used to drink daily even when driving, smoke constantly, vape when i couldn't smoke, and chew tobacco while smoking at times. I couldn't go very long without them.
When Christ found me, He gave me and showed me how to have eternal life; He changed my life and lead/helped me to quite everything basically cold turkey.
Now that I know Christ and know that I have eternal life, I no longer fear the temptation for any type of drugs or alcohol.
One day as I was driving home from work, beer in hand, the Holy Spirit convicted me about drinking all together. I was left with a choice of keeping it and remaining in sin, or dump it and choose to obey Christ. I struggled with the idea for 30-45min, but eventually after praying and fighting it, I pulled over and dumped out every drop I had with me. This was the first stepping stone that led to the removal of the tobacco use in all its' forms.
If I died right now, I know that I would go to heaven and be with Jesus; because I could not rid myself of such things until I received His help. His doing it made it everlasting and complete, while I couldn't even drop it on my own before He came along.
Your testimony matters too
