My chains are gone...Ive been set free!
Before I accepted Jesus I would have to describe myself as a person with huge invisible chains wrapped around me. Trusting God and reading His word has transformed my life. Every time He reveals His Truth to me its as if He has reached down and untangled another chain that keeps me bound and throws that chain to the floor. During my journey with God He not only healed me spiritually, He healed me physically. I no longer have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue. The bible says in Matthew 6:33 that if you seek His kingdom and His righteousness first and above anything else, He will give you everything you need and that is exactly what He has done for me. The choice is yours...will you trust Him?
I was increasingly uneasy about my eternal life even though I had gone to church from the time I was just a baby. I did not really love people and I had no real peace that I would go to heaven when I died. Our church had a revival and I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 36 years old but my real spiritual growth did not start till I was around 50 because of issues in my life that I was unable to deal with.
I became very sick with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. So sick that many days I was unable to get out of bed and take a shower. I became very depressed with my situation and started thinking more and more about taking my life. I decided one day that I was going to end my life by getting into my car out in the garage and turning the motor on with the garage doors down. Shorty before I was going to do that God spoke to me in my spirit. He said, "Just tell me about it." I knew right then that God was the One talking to me and I knew exactly what He wanted me to tell him. In fact before that moment I had never told a soul what I was getting ready to tell God. I grew up in what most people thought was a good Christian home but when I was 9 my dad started molesting me during what was suppose to be my before bed prayer time. This totally destroyed my world and my ability to trust people. If you can't trust your dad who can you trust? This lack of trust affected my ability to trust God. In fact I really thought God did not love me very much to allow this to happen to me.
I was so amazed that God spoke to me and more than anything I wanted that to happen again. I had always heard that we speak to God in prayer and that God speaks to us through His Word. I decided right then and there that I was going to devote myself to reading Gods word and that is just what I did.
That day that I accepted Jesus as my Savior was just the beginning of an amazing journey that God has taken me on. Some of my journey has been pretty ugly but God has been with me and for me every step of the way.
God taught me through His Word that He loves me completely. I am amazed at the mercy and love He shows me daily. He taught me that I can trust Him completely with anything I want and need to tell Him. He helped me to forgive and let go of bitterness for the things that happened in my life that caused so much hurt and pain. I am a totally different person today because of Gods love for me and His life-changing Word.
The most wonderful thing about God being my heavenly "Daddy" is knowing that I am safe in His arms. My salvation does not depend on me. Jesus paid the debt for my sin once and for all on the cross and I know for certain that I will spend eternity with Him in heaven.
