Matt's Salvation
I was consumed with hatred for my fellow man, but God saw it fit to call me out of such a wretched state, and make me a new creation for His glory.
Before I received eternal life I was controlled by my anger. I hated everyone. I pushed myself away from others who tried to reach out to me and lashed out at those who were close.
I remember how my mother told me that she was worried that I would hurt or kill myself or my younger brother. I look back now, and I think she was right to worry.
My future brother in law shared with me the gospel. After much time and study, I came face to face with the reality of God's wrath being aimed against me. I was knocked to the floor out of shame and fear. I prayed to God, repented of my sins against Him, and placed my full trust in Christ for my salvation. God graciously saved this rebel.
God has taken my anger from me! I have love for humanity and for my God. He has given me new life.
When I was 18 I fell asleep at the wheel. I had a terrible crash and broke my back (2 vertebrae.) If this had happened before I was saved, I know I would have cursed God; I can picture myself saying something like, "how dare you do this to me!" But that's not what happened. God used this experience for me to get closer to Him. At that point, I never experienced a greater time of immense love for God. I'm still amazed he used what should have been a terrible experience for me to get so close to Him.
God promised that those who trust in Christ will be saved, He's not broken a promise yet, so I will cling to that. I know that I won't be snatched from His hands. I have eternal life and will meet my God in heaven when I die.
