Life becomes lighter when I accepted Christ
God always find mysterious ways and places to meet His children when He wants them to believe Him. He found me when I was vulnerable and asleep. He truly loves His children. He never fails to show His love for His children. He never abandons or forsaken His children. He knows you more than you know yourself.
Before I became Christian, my life was in turmoil. I was trying to find ways to cope with everything like peace and happiness over depression, stress, and fear. I had resentment and grudges with people who hurt me. I had guilt and shame for my bad decisions in the past. I just ignored my problems and acted like everything was okay.
I remember one dream I had back in 2006 when I was in surgery for an emergency C-section. I met God in heaven. He was this giant figure sitting on His throne. He wearing a long white gown. His hands and arms were resting on the armrest of His throne. His hair was long and lay on His chest. I could not see His face. It was blurry. I was sitting right next to Him but I was so tiny compared to Him. In front of me, there was this big round Marble table with my favorite foods laid out. I was so surprised that God knew what I loved to eat when I was younger. I remember sensing Him smiling at me when I was so happy to see the foods that I recognized. The moment I was about to dive into the food, I woke up.
For a long time, I believe God has been saving me and trying to call me but I kept rejecting Him. In mid-2021, I found a framer statue of Jesus Christ in the attic. I was amazed by it and decided to give it to one of our friends that is Catholic. I went back and forth about keeping it or giving it away. That statue got my attention for a while. I started praying for something that I could never ask for. I didn’t know how to pray. I realize that God heard me and answered my prayers about protecting me from evil and giving me strength. I continue praying daily. By June 2022, I started reading the Bible for the first time because I thought it was time to start learning about God and His plans for His children. My older sister passed away in September 2022 and her death got me closer to God. I needed to find peace and strength to overcome that loss. I also wanted to understand the importance of Heaven and Hell. Because my sister was not a believer, I knew she wouldn’t be in Heaven. I believe I had to share my testimony with my family so they could become believers of Christ.
Since I became believer of Christ, heaviness on my shoulders and chest were lifted. Attitudes of greed, grudges, grief, pride, and selfishness were fading away slowly. I can say that I am less angry and less impatient than before. I have gained more confidence, peace, and wisdom daily. I enjoy reading the Bible and sharing gospel with other people.
I had a hard time understanding faith. I was asked by a friend if I knew what faith means. I was too embarrassed to answer it because I didn’t know what it meant. One day, my husband encountered a problem at his job in the middle of the night. There was no way of reaching him because he didn’t respond to my calls and texts. Something was telling me to find a way to go there and rescue him. I was scared at first but the holy spirit told me to take the risk and go. I ordered an Uber ride and surprisingly there was an available driver at 2:00 am. Normally, Uber service would not be available after midnight in my community. I jumped into the Uber with no money and my phone was not fully charged. I was so scared and stressed out that I was taking this risk. The driver noticed I was stressed out so he tried to reassure me that it was going to be okay. The moment we arrived there, I asked the driver to wait for me in case I needed a ride home. I looked around and saw my husband’s car parked at the corner. I ran to the car and checked inside but there was no sign of him. I walked up to the couple in the car and knocked on the window. I asked them if they have seen my husband. They responded with no. Then I walked over to one of the next-door offices and knocked on the door and windows. The glass door and windows were covered with newspapers. I heard voices from the inside so I knocked louder until they heard me. A woman approached the door and flipped newspapers to see me. She told me to go to the back alleyway and I knew this wasn’t going to be good. I ran to the back alleyway and I saw my husband sitting on the chair with two tall men standing in front of him. I approached my husband and two tall men walked backwards. My husband got up and walked with me to his car in a calm way while I was questioning him about why he didn’t respond to my calls or texts. One of the men followed us until I looked at him and he turned around quickly. I knew God was saving us there. I could’ve been shot, beaten, or killed at that moment. I was walking with Faith to rescue my husband. That’s when I realized what Faith meant.
I have some things that I have to work on but I know that I have faith in and love God. I know I am not scared to die. I know I will be in Heaven because of my faithfulness and repentance of my sins.
Your testimony matters too
