Laura's Testimony

I'm glad I have eternal life because I know that I can do nothing without the Holy Spirit in me. Because Jesus died on the cross and paid the penalty for my sins I have inner peace, patience, love, comfort and joy. I trust in God's plan and He gives me confidence and security. I was born twice and I only have to die once. This gives me contentment and peace that in Christ, this life on earth is as bad as it gets. I have faith to face my fears because God is always with me.

I used to think that salvation came by works. I thought that if I worked hard enough, was good enough, and was "perfect" that God would like me more or others would like me more. Through Bible study and prayer I learned that God's unmerited love for me has nothing to do with my works. In fact, my works are as filthy rags. I am a sinner and there is nothing I can do to earn God's love. He loves me so much that He came from glory to die a cruel death. He rose from the grave so that if I trust in Him as my savior I can have eternal life. All I need to do is surrender to Him and His will. He has already done the work at Calvary.

God's mercies are new for me every morning. I know each day that when I leave this earth I will go to heaven to live with Him for eternity.
