Jesus calmed my storm
I've been a believer almost as long as I can remember, however when I was younger I had quite the anger issue. This is a story of when Jesus calmed the storm inside of me.
I am glad that I have Eternal life because I know that God will protect me no matter what happens.
When I was younger, I always had an incredibly short temper. I got into a lot of fights and was constantly getting in trouble. It actually got so bad that more than once I had to go to a place called FBI for a day at a school called "The Aces". The guys that ran FBI were mean and stupid people. They physically assaulted a lot of the kids and yelled at everybody for no real reason. I remember one time I went, when I walked into the classroom I saw one of the guys grab a kid and put him in one of those tall cabinet looking earthquake shelter things. Another time I saw a kid being bodily carried through the halls by two "teachers" kicking and screaming. I was terrified of that place. When I was in 6th grade I went there again, sat down quietly and started working while the teachers yelled out roll call. I answered my name like a normal person and went back to work on my stuff. A while later in the day, the teacher comes over to me at gets mad at me for having some sort of an "attitude problem" now I haven't said a word to this guy since he called my name for roll. I say that to him and he starts squeezing my shoulder, not that hard mind you, however I was 11 and it sure felt hard back then. He looked at me and said something along the lines of "Are you trying to get smart with me kid?" then, after I didn't respond (If you can't say something nice, don't say anything) He grabbed the pencil out of my hand and threw it in the trash, a little smug grin on his face. It wasn't really about the pencil anymore, it was about my pride. I really wanted to knock that guy upside the head, Every atom of my being was shouting PUNCH HIM NOW, but something inside my heart said "Don't do it Jonah, do you really want to get in a fight? Just smile, nod, and get your other pencil out of your bag." I did that, and the teacher just got confused. I told him that I'd never go back to FBI and I never did. I truly believe that God was the voice in my heart that calmed the storm of rage I felt. To be honest it wasn't really that big of a deal in reality, but I don't think I've ever been that mad before or since, but Jesus calmed my storm inside.
I know that Jesus calmed me then, and he gives me peace when I need it still. I can't wait for God to call me home to be with him.
