It Is Not "My" Life
It is only when we realize that we need God and that He doesn't need us that we finally find a life worth living!
While I came to know Christ at a young age it was not until my late teen years that I truly recognized what an amazing things it was to have a relationship with Him. It is one thing to know about God but it is entirely different to truly know Him. I can say that I truly love God and cannot imagine what my life would be like without Him. He has given me purpose. I live with a sense of significance and worth because I recognize that God has a purpose for me. After all, He created me and He loves me so much that He died for me. I want to serve Him and live my life the way He wants.
It is so easy to think that this life is mine and that I can live it on my terms. Many people approach life with a prideful attitude, thinking that it is all about them and what they want. I remember when I was preparing for college I had great career aspirations and goals. I thought I was doing it for God but in reality I was doing what I wanted. I learned that even if I am doing something great and receiving men's praise it is empty and meaningless unless it is what God wants. Thankfully God got my attention and over a period of time He humbled me and taught me that it was not about what I wanted, instead it was about what He wanted. He wants my best. He wants me to be doing what He made me to do. I should always go to Him for direction and guidance even if it may not always make sense at the time. I once left a great job where I had room for advancements with great benefits and a great salary to take a job that paid less and offered no advancement opportunities. I was scared to make the switch but once I gave my notice I had this unbelievable peace that I knew was supernatural. In hindsight God was teaching me that if I would let go and trust Him, He would take care of me. He used the new job to teach me so much and to prepare me for where I am and what I am doing today.
I see how God has worked in me. He has transformed me and thankfully He is still working on me. I am a sinner who was far away from God but because of His great love and grace I am now a sinner brought near to God. I live this life recognizing that I represent Him. My life is nothing without Him. I look forward to the time when one day He calls me to my true home and I will be with Him forever.
