I should never have been born!
Despite the fact that my parents were told, "You should never have children!", they promised God, if you give us a healthy child, we will dedicate him/her to You for Your service. Being a Christian has given my life purpose and meaning.
I was fortunate to be raised in a Christian home which gave me a clear direction and purpose for my life.
I should never have been born, according to my mother. My parents were new believers and anxious to begin their family shortly after WWII, when the doctors told them that they should not have children. The chances of my mother giving birth to a healthy child was very remote and not worth the risk. My parents went to God in prayer and promised Him if He would give them a healthy child they would dedicate that child to Him for His service. One of my earliest memories is a photograph of my standing behind behind a stair railing in our home. My mother labeled the photo, "Our preacher boy." This vision and upbringing led me to become a believer at a very early age, later confirmed as young adult and ultimately realized when I decided to become a pastor.
Being a believer has given my life a clear purpose in this life, but it has also given me the assurance that when this life comes to an end I will spend eternity with God in heaven.
