I Love to Fish!
God used a frightful and dangerous fishing trip to help a confused young man receive eternal life. Today my life is blessed beyond what I could ever have imagined. By the way, I still love to fish for fish and I love to fish for the souls of men.
Before I received the gift of eternal life my life was empty, I had no purpose, and I had a fear of dying.
I remember being on a fishing trip with my Dad, my Uncle & my cousin. We were fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. It was in the morning about 9:00am. All the sudden a storm blow up around us. It got dark as night, the rain was pouring down, it was lightening, & thundering. The wind was blowing very hard and our boat was being tossed around like a bobbing cork. I really thought we weren't going to make it. I was so scared. We made it through the storm, but that experience stayed with me. As a middle school boy I remember laying on my pillow at night thinking about hitting the game winning home run or the making the game winning touchdown. Then the fishing trip would come to mind and I would think about the experience and wonder what if I had not made it? What if I had died? This would happen a lot. I had a fear of death.
Then in my second year in college a dear friend helped me make the greatest discovery and I received the gift of eternal life.
Sense I have received eternal life I know my sins are forgiven, I have peace in my heart, and I know that I will spend eternity in heaven with God for ever.
Years later I went on an incredible fishing trip to Alaska. The storm I went through as a kid was nothing compared to the one we went through there. We were in the North Pacific Ocean and the waves were crashing over the top of our boat, but I had peace.
Even though the situation was uncertain and dangerous, I knew that if my life were to end I had the peace that I would go to heaven and be with God forever.
