How Jesus Christ changed my life - forever
In summary, I hope anyone reading my story will see the grace afforded me by Jesus Christ. Be assured, God is no respecter of persons. What Christ has done for me He will do for anyone who comes to Him in faith.
Before receiving eternal life I experienced guilt, despair and the feeling that there must something more to this life.
I remember knowing the only way out of my guilt and despair was through God and that He was the "something" missing in my life. But I didn't know the way to Him. It was not until I was told by friends that the way was through repentance and believing that Jesus Christ died for all my sin. Once I placed my faith in Christ I received peace with God and the peace of God. This peace is the knowledge of salvation, eternal life and a personal relationship with God.
Since receiving God's free, gracious gift of salvation I have come to know He will never leave or forsake me. I have come to the knowledge that I have been bought with a price (the blood of Jesus Christ) and have been eternally sealed by the Holy Spirit for all eternity. I have learned the freedom of knowing that I do not labor for Christ to be saved, but rather because I am saved.
Now that I have received God's free gift of salvation I rest in the assurrance that I am His and He is mine. I am no longer "working" my way to heaven.
The realization that, by His work on the cross, Christ forever secured my salvation has freed me from the fear and anguish that somehow I had to earn eternal life through works of my own. This has been a real game changer for me. I no longer feel that I must do good works to earn heaven, I now work to show my deep appreciation for His love toward me and to hopefully be found pleasing in His sight.
I now rest in the full assurrance that Christ bought me with a price (His blood). I belong to Him. No man can take me from His hand. I have been sealed by the Holy Spirit. Nothing can unseal what He has sealed. Nothing can separate me from His love - nothing! By grace I have been saved, through faith and that not of myself, it is the gift of God, lest I should boast.
