How God Saved My Life
In my home I see God’s life and love lived out daily through my mother. So much of who I am today is in answer to her prayers for me. She has a special love for the Japanese people and has found a way to serve God by serving them. Her ministry is to translate the book “Our Daily Bread” into Japanese for the nation. Her prayers have been transforming the hearts and lives of my two brothers and me.
Before Jesus came into my life, I was filled with anxiety and dealt with depression.
I remember before I knew Jesus, whenever I was afraid, scared, or hurt, I turned to the things of the world and filled my heart with all the pleasures of the world. I abused alcohol, smoked, and even did drugs. I loved sin. I was proud of my immorality and self indulgence, loving the very things that God hated; and I loved being in the world.
Then God placed a pastor in my life who was the real deal. At age 16, I met a Pastor who shared the gospel with me and for the very first time in my life, I decided to profess Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of the Father. My life has never been the same since meeting Jesus.
Now that Jesus came into my life, he took away the emptiness I once felt within my heart. Since Jesus came into my life and forgave me, He has radically changed my life. He has renewed my heart and has set Himself up as my Savior. He has given me a new life, and now I want to dedicate everything back to Him. I want to use my life now to serve Him as a pastor. I have been a Christian for 12 years now. Since then God has begun to pull me out of the darkened valleys and has let me walk in His righteous path. The Lord has taught me how to be a genuine believer throughout this journey with Him. Today, people are living for themselves for the pleasure of the moment. However, I know this adrenalin-based life always ends in distress, disaster, and discontent. On the other hand, a life based on God’s law and ways brings peace and contentment. God has taught me how to overcome the world’s attractiveness and the desires for self indulgence. He has radically changed my life, and today I have the freedom to worship Him with a grateful heart. In the midst of all the craziness of life, God has revealed unto me that He is better than life and he is everything that I have ever needed. I have true contentment and joy that is only in Christ that none can take it away.
I know I am saved because God has radically changed my life. He is my constant companion. Jesus radically restored my life. He dearly loved me first with His unconditional love and then called me His own son. I was once heading straight to Hell, but Jesus has saved me from that eternal condemnation. This dearness that God has for me, it is the central theme of all eternity and redemptive history. This confirms me to know that no one can snatch me out of the Father's hand.
