Holy Spirit You Are Welcome Here
My encounter with the Holy Spirit and how He transformed my life.
Before I received God's Holy Spirit, I was dark, empty, angry, and depressed.
My parents ensured that our childhood years were well enjoyed; however, once we became teenagers, life changed and we had to learn critical life lessons at an early age. At age thirteen my dad had abandoned his family and home. Battling depression, my mom became too ill to head the home, so my sister and I had to step in and help manage the home. I too became depressed from all that was going on in my life and so several times when darkness had overcome me, I too had tried to end my life. Countless failed attempts, but God had a purpose for me. One night my sister had asked me to bring her an item from outside after feeding the dogs. Unfortunately, I forgot and she became infuriated. Usually when we would fight, my mom would ask us to stop, but this time my mom was in the hospital so there was not anyone to stop us. My sister, being the aggressor, started to attack me, but I did not react. I just kept on thinking that if I were to return the blows that I would hurt her as she was small in stature and frail from battling her own demons. I asked her to stop but she just kept spewing out mean words and physically attacking me. Before I knew it, she had forcefully pushed me in the wooden mahogany chair and broke it. Interestingly, while all this was happening to me, I felt peace. The peace of the Holy Spirit had fallen on me. I had let go of all pain, bitterness, depression, and anger… I was being thrown around as a rag doll, but I was in perfect peace instead of feeling pain. After seeing what she had done, she broke down and cried. I began to cry too, but my tears were tears of joy and salvation.
For years I had forgotten what it felt like to cry. My heart had hardened and I could not feel pain. Yet that night, my flood gates had opened. I felt peace, joy, kindness, goodness, gentleness, forbearance, and self-control. The Holy Spirit had fallen on me and I had received the gifts.
Now that I have received the Holy Spirit, I am at peace.
I do not know why I was selected by the Holy Spirit as I was unworthy, but I am grateful that the Holy Spirit fell on me and restored my faithfulness. Thank You for all my blessings and for saving a wretch like me. Thank You for giving me hope throughout the years.
Great is Thy faithfulness my God!
