Greatful for a loving God
When I became a Christian I received God's Mercy and God's Grace. Mercy by not receiving the punishment I deserve for my sins and Grace by receiving God's free gift of Heaven that I do not deserve. I have forgiveness instead of regret; hope instead of despair.
I was 8 years old when I first realized that I was a sinner and that I needed to surrender my life to Jesus. My relationship with God was always important to me, but for 10 years I was what I would call a baby Christian. I had a very comfortable life with very little disappointments.
It wasn't until I was 18 that I can say my faith was tested. In my first week of college, my grandma died unexpectedly and for the first time my family and other things I had built my identity around were broken. It was only because of the Grace of God that I was able to make it through that time.
I am not a perfect person. I have had more sin and more disappointment in my life after I became a Christian than I did in my first 7 years of life.
