God Word Changed Me
The Word of God, the knowledge that Jesus died for my sins made personal that He is my Savior the One who remembers my sins no more so that I can come near to God and live with peace.
Before I started reading and learning personally what the Bible had to say about who Jesus was I was angry at God because He never answered my prayers.
My anger melted like snow on a hot summer day when I began to see how Jesus died for my sins. Studying the book of Matthew in the Bible and reading about Him dying on the cross I came to see Jesus on the cross with my sins... sticky notes upon His body as the teacher of the class held up Cards with sins on them. She placed the Cards in a treasure box. Jesus took my sins. They were on Him not me because He chose to love me... the one who had sinned. Cheated, lied, stole, lusted and yep murdered... in my thoughts.
Seeing my sins on cards held up and stored in a treasure box... and that box being taken away.... My sins taken away.... allowed me to see that my sins were on Jesus, no longer on me and He would not remember my sins against me. They were gone and I was made new in that moment.
Forgiveness of my sins lifted the heaviness of my struggles and brought about a peace even in the greatest storms. Anger had melted and Gods love filled all the empty places.
The struggles were still present but my response, the anxiety and the fear were lifted.
The presence of God in my life changed my heart, my desires. Before I had a portrait view... self-centeredness and now He has given me more of a landscape view.... one of action that is focused upon sharing His love to others.
