God Was No Longer a Stranger
The trajectory of my life completely changed at the age of 19 when I confronted the remarkable person of Christ and received Him as Savior and Lord.
Faith in God seemed theoretical and detached. Prayer was empty. I had many fears and confusion.
I didn't understand the purpose of life. I had a great deal of loneliness. I had little feeling for other people.
As a freshman in college, I went to two concerts by a Christian musician who clearly demonstrated that a life of faith in Christ was not only possible, but readily available! I was powerfully born again.
Everything started to make sense. I no longer felt so alone. Order and purpose replaced confusion and despair.
The last time I got drunk, the young man who became my roommate and discipler did not condemn me but instead actually let me sleep it off in his own bed! I was very moved by his nonjudgemental attitude. I started to regularly attend Christian fellowship meetings and grew very rapidly in the Lord.
The transformation in my life was very dramatic, swift, and decisive. I developed a hunger for the Bible, lost interest in the things that used to dominate me, and received a genuine calling to a life of ministry and service.
