God's Saving Grace
I love my salvation. The fact that I was one way and now I’m another way, is mind-blowing to some. My salvation has given me so much that I once lost, and to think it’s nothing I do other than being obedient to my heavenly father. For almost 5yrs now I’ve lived a life rededicated to Jesus Christ and recovered from addiction. Jesus and recovery have given me a chance to rewrite my story. Today, I refuse to go back to my old ways. I am becoming a better person every day. God has given me my wife and kids back.
Before I received my salvation I was addicted to meth for 17 years.
I remember going through my divorce thinking "I'm a terrible father, husband, and man in general."
I ended up in jail on drug charges when an older black lady jailer came into my cell and prayed for me like I've never been prayed for. Right then and there I asked the Lord to forgive me and to come into my life. There was a total transformation immediately in my thinking, acting, speaking, everything.
As soon as I gave my heart to Jesus and received eternal life, I was delivered from the chains of addiction. Without my Lord, I am nothing, I was unable to become sober on my own.
"Just recently I had to carry my wife to the ER. We were unaware but she had had a minor heart attack earlier that day and was in the process of trying to have a massive one at the time we got to the hospital. I'm not going to downplay the fact that at one point I was worried for my wife, but once I prayed and gave it all to God, there was a peace that came over me, a voice that said "everything will be fine, your wife will be fine."
I have no doubt that I will one day live in Heaven with Jesus. Once I asked Jesus to come and live in my heart, I became a new creation. I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
