God's Protecction and Mercy
I decided to go see some friends after work one night and an argument between two guys escalated quickly. I know it was the Lord who kept me safe that night and protected me from the gunshots. Although this event was unfortunate, I can see God's protection and provision for me. I can now share this story to help others see His love and Mercy!
I have a confidence within me that is rooted in Christ. Not just a confidence about where I will spend eternity but a daily confidence knowing I am truly loved and cared for!
One night after work, I was invited to a friend's apartment to catch up with some friends we had graduated highschool with. We were sitting at the table talking when one of the guys was yelling at someone on his phone. It turned out to be another guy we went to highschool with who lived at the other end of the apartment complex. Apparently they did not care for one another. The conversation escalated and I thought it was time that I leave. I walked out the door and saw something out of the corner of my eye. What happened next is something that I will never forget. Within the blink of an eye, I turned to my right just in time to see the flash of light coupled with the sound of a gun shot. I dove back into the apartment and crawled to the kitchen and hid behind the cabinets just in time for another shot to come through the window and into the living room. Then the shooting stopped and the Police arrived within minutes. When taking my statement, I walked the Police through the scenario. When I told them what I saw, they said that if I saw the light from the shot, I am very lucky to be alive. Apparently the light was from the blast of the shot. The police informed me that it was not a bullet but a buck shot shotgun shell. I found out that a buckshot shell has a lot of little pellets that spray over a wide area which increases your chance of hitting what you are aiming at. I showed the policemen where I was standing and he pointed to the blast zone. It was as if the bullets had gone right through me where I was standing. I know for certain that the Lord and His angels were watching over us all as no one was struck. I look back and see that the Lord was with me in that moment just as He is everyday!
I know that the same loving God who kept me safe in that moment will keep me safe all the days of my life, no matter what I will face. Life can be taken away from us in the blink of an eye, but I choose not to live in fear rather in Grace, Peace and Confidence that I serve a Loving, Forgiving and Merciful God!
