God Gave Me The Heart I Always Wanted

I'm glad I received eternal life, because God has given me a love for others that is beyond human explanation.

I used to want to live in the mountains, as far away from people as possible, but now my favorite thing in life is to help others. Recently I was on my way home from church and I saw a man walking away from his vehicle down the road toward town which was probably five miles away. I had two of my kids with me, but I felt the Lord prompting me to stop. I pulled over to see if he needed help. He had run out of gas and was grateful to receive a ride to the gas station and back since his family was stranded with him. In the past I would have used safety or my busy schedule as an excuse to drive on by, but now that God has changed my heart, one of the greatest joys I have in life is loving the people around me.

I know that God is Lord of my life, because He is continually changing my heart to increase my love for others. He continues to give me more and more opportunities to reach out to others, and my life has been filled with the joy of meeting those needs. Through these opportunities I have an ever greater peace and joy because I can better understand God's love for me. I can't wait to be in heaven with the one who gave me a heart for others.
