God finished what He came to do

I used to think no one could know if they had done enough "good stuff" to make up for the bad stuff they did.

When I was young, I thought I was a Christian because I'd attended church all my life. But I didn't think it was possible for anyone to know they had eternal life. Then I met Christians who said they were absolutely sure they had eternal life. I could see there was a big difference between their "version" of Christianity and mine.

I went to church with my friend to understand what was different between her faith from mine. The preacher showed that Jesus came to die to pay for all my sins because I never could. I understood that since Jesus is God, He completed the task He came to earth to accomplish. There's nothing I could do to improve on or add to what Jesus did for me. I simply needed admit to God thatI could never do enough good stuff to save myself and to accept the free gift of eternal life He offered, and give up my notions of somehow doing enough good stuff to pay for what He already paid for.

Now that I know I have eternal life, I am so grateful to know for sure I will be with Jesus Forever! I want others to have what I have.

October 1, 2019, I had a heart attack. But in stead of being scared, I had peace and even joy. As I was lying on the table awake while the doctors worked on me, I meditated on the fact that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me and is at work in me. It was a "win/ win situation, because I already have eternal life! I'm living with Jesus, whether I'm living with Him here on earth or in heaven.

If I had died that day from the heart attack, I know I'd be so filled with joy to be in heaven with Jesus. I think my wife and kids would miss me, but they would be happy for me because they know I would be with Jesus, who loves me way more than even they do.
