From weed to Word
Jesus found me in my sin and changed my whole life. He changed my whole focus from me to God first, my family second, to esteem my brother more than myself, and then me.
Before Christ changed my life I was self-centered, concerned only with smoking marijuana with my friends and neglecting the needs of my family.
I was making $125.00 per week and spending $45.00 of that before I got home with my paycheck.
It finally came to me that this made no sense. I was married with a 2 year old son and I simply could not justify spending over one third of my earnings on ME. The Holy Spirit spoke to me that "this made no sense", in those exact words.
My thought pattern changed and I told my mother. She place a bible in my hands and said "read, you'll find your answers in here". I found salvation in the Word of God.
My change wasn't sudden. One night while riding by myself and smoking "weed" a voice came to me and said, "You don't need this, you have me". I rolled down the window and threw the joint away. I only smoked once after that and felt so uncomfortable that I have never smoked marijuana again. This was April 1979.
I know now that I only need Him. Through His word, the Holy Spirit and the evidences that He has shown me, I know that my eternity with Him is guaranteed.
