From selfishness and lust to joy, love, assurance and purpose
From selfishness and lust to joy, love, purpose, and a relationship with the Savior
I grew up in a good Christian home and we went to church whenever the doors were opened. I professed to know Jesus when I was eleven and I got baptized, but the Bible answers were in my head and not in my soul. I was battling with with God and had reoccurring doubts about where I was headed when I died. Although I pretty much enjoyed my life, I had no purpose and no genuine relationship with my Creator. I realize now that teenage lust was leading me down a very dangerous path.
During my senior year of high school, I began to experiencing God calling me to surrender my life to Him. I believed that what I learned in church was true but, I thought that I had "Jesus in my heart" so I was at least safe from Hell. One Sunday, after repeatedly saying "no" to God for about six months, He really spoke to my Soul.
The day that changed my life forever, was a Sunday in February of 1969.
Since that day I have known that eternal life is mine. Heaven is assured. God began to change my heart form one of lust and selfishness to a heart of love and righteousness. And then, God revealed to me what my purpose in life is.
Since that day God has led me, loved me, answered so many of my prayers, and given me a life of great fulfillment.
But of all that He has and is doing for me, one of my greatest joys is knowing for certain that Heaven, with Jesus, is my eternal home.
