From relying on the bottle to relying on the Lamb of God
From a crushed man who relies on alcohol to deal with life, I am now born again and know that Jesus loves me despite all my brokenness and imperfections.
Before being saved I relied on alcohol to numb my unhappiness. I was bullied in school as a teen and lost my self confidence after my mom and dad divorced.
I worked for many hotels in the past. In order to cope with a stressful job and to appear to be a team player, I would partake in after work drinking binges with my hotel co-workers leading to many lost weekends spent nursing massive hangovers.
A Christian friend asked me to call upon the name of Jesus in 2011 after a bloody night of heavy drinking in Shanghai, China.
Now that I know Jesus is my security, I no longer turn to alcohol to numb my sadness. He that is in me is greater than he that is in the world. As such, I am now a child of God and have nothing to fear in this world. Jesus, thank you!
Instead of relying on the alcohol bottle, now I have a telephone contact list full of Christian brothers from my local church who I can call in moments of temptation who will help me flee from the destroyer of lives.
If I were to die today, I’m 100% sure heaven is my home. I know the date, time, and place where Jesus saved me. Amen.
