From Pain and Long-Suffering to Hope and Eternal Peace
I share my story with you because you may be at a point in your life where you are seeking the approval of others. You do not need to seek the approval of others. You only need to seek Jesus. He's the only place to find perfect hope, peace, and love. "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding" (Ephesians 1:7-8, New King James Version).
My life was filled with pain and long-suffering, guilt and shame, emptiness and hopelessness.
I was raised in church. I call it a "drug" baby because every time the doors were open I was "drug" to church. But seriously trauma and abuse entered my life at a very young age. Oftentimes my biological father would abuse me on the way home from church on Sunday and Wednesday night services. I related going to church to the abuse. This started a pattern in my life of blaming God. Blaming God for the innocence I had lost. Blaming God for my circumstances. Blaming God for everything wrong in my life. As I grew into adulthood I continued down a road of seeking approval from men. Of course this added to issues that continued with abuse of various types. This left me utterly defeated
There was only one place, one person that I knew could save me, and that was (is) Jesus.
I accepted Jesus as Lord over my life in my early thirties. From that point on, my life was completely different.
I found my identity in Christ and through Christ. I was no longer a victim, I was no longer this abused person or this adulterous woman or however the world wanted to label me. I became the daughter of the King.
To this day and forevermore, I define my life as Jesus sees me. I am pure. I am clean. I am no longer the trash that I thought I was. I matter and above everything I matter to my Heavenly Father who loves me. I no longer need to seek man's approval. I only seek God. Because He is the only thing that matters.
Your testimony matters too
