From Hopelessness to Joy
I spent most of my life believing I was saved because I had an intellectual knowledge of Jesus Christ and His work on the Cross. After receiving the gift of eternal life, I no longer did things out of obligation, but was able to rejoice in obedience to Christ.
Before I received eternal life, I was very insecure and felt worried and anxious, suffering from bouts of depression from time to time. I was discontent and kept myself busy with work, hobbies, and working out at the gym. Filling my days with activities helped me to sleep at night. I suffered from severe insomnia, and used prescription medications for insomnia, anxiety, and depression. After my divorce, I was filled with regrets and hopelessness over how my life had turned out. After receiving the gift of eternal life, I have purpose in life, contentment and peace. I have faith to face my fears, because I know that God is always with me.
I became free from my past life, and I was able to trust in God's plan.
In the past, I thought I was saved because I had always believed in Jesus. I had an intellectual assent, but no heart knowledge of who Jesus really is
Now that I have eternal life, I am no longer fearful and depressed.
Because of my newly found faith in God, along with my boyfriend, Ray, who also prayed to receive Christ, I was able to trust in God for a second start in life. Ray and I were married in November of 2015.
Now I am assured that whatever happens to me in life, I can rest in the knowledge that I have eternal life in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
