From darkness to light
Through so many trials and hurts and scars and being lost for a very long time, Jesus found me and drew me in. He was always there, waiting.
Before I received eternal life, I grew up in a semi Catholic home. My parents attended church a few times a year. My parents divorced when I was 14 and my life basically spiraled at that point.
I was raped when I was 14, after my parents divorced, by a family friend that I trusted. I was ostracized by my family after that. My rapist received eternal life while in the military and came back into my life but never accepted responsibility for what he did. My parents abdicated their responsibilities when I was 14, and so I was desperate for attention, love, acceptance. My rapist lead me to Christ and promptly asked me to marry him. I imagine this was his way of apologizing and assuaging his guilt. I married him and we jumped in with both feet at a local baptist church. It didn't last. we moved a lot, and could never settle. I had massive trust issues. We both walked away from God on and off for many years, and I did many terrible things to try and fill the hole left by my guilt and shame, and inability to trust anyone. Through it all, Jesus never left my side. He saved me from destruction many many times. When I look back on my life, I now know that Jesus was with me always. He was just waiting for me to come home. And now I'm home. Completely. All my hope, faith and trust are in Jesus.
When I accepted Jesus, I don't think I really knew what I was doing. No one told me, no one taught me. But many years ago, I recommitted my life to God and I choose to follow Him fully now and forever.
I am able to trust again. Only Jesus, always Jesus.
I don't really have an example, but I suffer from massive anxiety and self loathing, but when I started daily prayer and Bible study, I found so much peace, and hope. When I pray to be present in His presence daily, and not look back or forward, I am washed in His peace.
Thank God that this life is not the end. I believe by faith that heaven waits for me . I believe when I come running home, Jesus will wrap His arms around me and say welcome child, you are home.
