Freedom from the Fear of Death

I know for certain that if I were to die today that I would go to be with God in heaven. I didn't always have that certainty but lived with a nagging fear of dying for a number of years. Upon receiving the gift of eternal life I was delivered from the fear of dying and an inner peace swept over my spirit. I realized I had been forgiven of my sins and freed from the penalty of my sin because of what Christ had done for me on the cross so many years ago.

Recently my wife and I were traveling home on an icy wintery night when our van began spinning out of control. The thought came that we could both be killed but in that same instant a calm assurance came over me that we would wake up in heaven.

The purpose of my life since receiving the gift of eternal life has been to do everything in my power to help others understand that Christ paid the penalty for their sins and that by receiving Him in to there lives they too can know for certain they will go to heaven when they die.
