Finding Purpose through the Pain
My story is one of God helping me change my perspective. A broken relationship allowed me to see that God is constantly providing for me. It took pain for my perspective to change and I'm so thankful to God for holding me close.
Having eternal life creates in me a sense of peace and purpose; I know that the assurance of heaven will wash away my fears brought on by the enemy.
God has always used uncomfortable moments to help me see His plan in my life. Recently I was involved in a long term relationship; we talked about marriage, futures, wedding rings, and both seemed to be on the same page. Throughout it all, I had prayed to God over our relationship. The young man broke it off without giving me much closure. I had never experienced rejection and pain like that, especially from someone I loved. I was so hurt and confused but I clung to God during my heart-brokenness. I felt like I had stood by him through so much and I didn't understand how this man could change like that. God allowed me to open my eyes and see all of the red flags I had been avoiding simply because I was in love with him. He even spoke to me through a message at a youth service, talking about the very sin I had stood by my ex boyfriend through. I now see that God was saving me from something that I couldn't or refused to see and I am so thankful. God knows the desires of my heart and I know He will provide the man in my life that will be a great leader and hunger after a stronger relationship with Jesus. I see that God provides, since the break up I have been given numerous opportunities that are such a reminder of this: job opportunities, friends, and fellowship. God had to change my position to give me perspective and allow me to see that He has a bigger and better plan for my life. I look forward to seeing how God will use this time of growth to both grow closer to Him and hopefully inspire others.
This same confidence that I have about God providing for me in my situation is something I have on a consistent basis. I feel at ease and trust God's plan for me and I know as long as I cling to Him I will make it through the tough days. He is my rock and though I may fail, I know His love never will. I'm so thankful for His unconditional love and mercy that will allow me to one day join Him in heaven.
