Finding Meaning in Messy World
With the security of God's acceptance, I found meaning in life and the motivation to pursue his purpose for me.
I am glad that I have eternal life because I live with a sense of purpose and life has meaning beyond the mundane.
I remember the time in my late teens when the focus of my life was to have fun and adventure. It seems cool but I soon questioned it, 'what's the point of it all?' I realized there is more to life than one party to another or one fun trip to the next. While questioning these things, I had the opportunity to attend a christian retreat. I went because it was a great way to get out of the house and have a weekend of fun in nature. While there, I faced this issue of purpose head on. I was confronted with the fact that Christ purchased salvation for me on the cross. And many years before, as a child, I received his gift and promised him my life. The reason my life was empty and fun was only a temporary fix was because I strayed away from Christ and was not fulfilling my promise to Him. How could I have meaning without a relationship with the One who made me and gave me life. Since then, I dedicated my everyday life to follow Christ and have been discovering more and more the purpose of my life.
I live now with the satisfaction that in every season or situation in life, I am living on purpose and I know for sure that I have eternal life and will be with God in heaven one day. I looking forward to seeing him and hear his voice saying 'not bad kid, come on in'. Having that confidence of the acceptance of God gives so much peace as I do my best to fulfill His purpose for me being here.
