Finding Jesus in the Desert
At 14 years old I was Lost & Found Jesus in the Desert.
Before giving my life to Christ, I was in the deepest, darkest pit of sadness with little hope of what the future would hold.
When I was a kid, I was angry & resentful for the situations I couldn't control, thus I acted out. I resisted the idea of who God really was. My relationship with my family was broken, withdrawn & full of anamosity. At thirteen years old with little direction in my life, I thought there was no hope for me. Something needed to change. On September 19th at 4AM, I was awoken by two men & my father stating that I was to come with them to a Wilderness Program in Utah. A few weeks in, I listened to the story of "Mike" who told the group of the torn relationship with his father was physically abused him several times a week, but still loved his father. I made a comment that led me to be seperated from the group about Mike's father. During that time away from the group, in the darkest moment of my life, I knew I needed a change & that change was accepting Jesus into my life.
I discovered that there truly was a loving God through the roughest trials of life loved everyone unconditionally. I realized I was (am) a sinner & I needed to accept Jesus in my life.
With Jesus in my life, I no longer live to serve myself, but to serve Jesus by Serving Others.
I strive to serve God by serving those in my community working in Emergency Services. Meaning, in that 10-20 minute interaction I have with them, I hope in some shape or form, I can make an impact in their life showing that there is indeed hope.
I don't deserve heaven. I don't deserve God's Grace. I don't deserve God's Mercy. Though, I know that Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins & that I have accepted Jesus into my life. Romans 1 :16 says "For I am unashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God that brings Salvation to anyone that believes." There are no words that are more true.
