Ex-Prostitute to Walking with Jesus
God delivered me, redeemed me, restored me, revived me, renewed me, refreshed me, reconciled me, rewarded me. He provides, sustains, transforms, guides, heals, leads, protects, comforts, forgives, empowers, and saves.
Before I was truly saved, I was battling addiction and prostitution. I was raised in a Catholic household until both my parents dove into the new age spirituality trend and welcomed every single religion and belief into the home. They fed me every single idea or belief possible and I believed it all. I found myself becoming an atheist as I was confused. My mother became a leader in the new age spirituality, shamanism and witchcraft space hosting psychedelic retreats. I didn’t know what was true and what wasn’t, but I always felt connected to God since I was a child. Unfortunately, I’ve been through some things that led me to substance abuse and alcoholism starting from the age of thirteen and on. I was involved in sexual promiscuity starting at 15 with gang members nearly 6 years and older than me. I battled heavy depression, panic and every sin under the Sun. I found myself dealing with rejection, abandonment, unforgiveness and carrying around a calloused heart. At the age of 19, I was homeless sleeping in my car in a different state across the country. I prostituted, did every drug possible except for meth and suicidal thoughts on a regular basis. At the age of 19, I was sleeping in a homeless hostel shelter in the ghetto with other homeless adults. I was attacked spiritually, experiencing intense sleep paralysis and demonic dreams. I had planned to end my life that weekend, with my plan already set up and ready to go. I don’t know how to explain the miracle God bestowed upon me. I woke up one day, refreshed and with a clear knowing that I had a purpose.
I was driving my car around, looking for a place to stay and finally found it in me to call my father and say very briefly I needed a place to crash. The entire time driving to my home state, which took 2 days, God blessed me with salvation. I wasn’t fully repented or saved, but I was delivered from addiction and prostitution. From those days on, I never prostituted or did drugs again. Aside from that miracle, my suicidal thoughts were replaced with a loving truth that I truly had a purpose.
Months later, everyone saw a change in me. I didn’t have sex, I didn’t drink, I didn’t drug, I didn’t have depression or anxiety. I woke up with a clear sense of purpose, and I believed in God again. I believed in God because I was at the depths of my own personal hell and there was no way I could’ve gotten myself out of those trenches. No one in my life knew or cared to help, or even had the ability to get me out of those trenches either. It was truly a divine intervention on the behalf of my Lord, that he saw my deep suffering and my attempt on my life. He decided to deliver me from those bondages, and bless me with a renewing of my mind and spirit.
As I mentioned previously, no one in my life was a Christain or Bible reader or even church attendee. I had one grandmother who lived in another state that was faithful in her Catholic beliefs. My father was Buddhist, psychological self-helper who would speak about Jesus as nothing remarkable. My mother was a leader and moved up ranks to doing rituals at Masonic lodges. Both sides of my family are involved in witchcraft, spirit realm work like astral traveling and connecting with ouija boards. Everywhere I went within my family connections, and they would tell me that the Bible was created for deception. They told me the Holy Church was invented to keep people enslaved to a specific doctrine. I remember very quickly after receiving salvation, I was amazed and knew God had blessed me. So I instantly felt called to Christ and the whole biblical timeline. God blessed me with a brand new car after mines broke down. I recited the serenity prayer all the time. I went to a shop, and got a picture of Jesus and the Virgin. I put all over my car, and really started to push down this path of Christian faith. My parents knew this, and told me to read the book Grandmother Anna by Claire Heartstrong. This book was an account of what “truly” happened during the preparation of Jesus’s coming and the aftermath. It was filled with new age spirituality and metaphysics. Nothing about what the Holy Bible mentions or speaks of. So it pulled me away from the Bible, but I had a deep love for Jesus and the disciples. I then moved towards other religions, and got really close with my mother as I dove into all the books my parents recommended me. The calling of the Holy Spirit never left me. Years later, I found myself still feeling called to the Bible and Jesus. So I found Tricia McCannon. She writes many books about Mary, Christ Jesus, Magdala, angels and heavens. She was apart of a sector of mystic Christianity called Gnostics. I felt really connected, and I thought this would be a good middle ground between what my soul truly recognized and what my family members believe in. Holy Spirit kept calling for me, and I would find myself reading or hearing Bible verses that really resonated with me. I got Psalm 91 tattooed on my wrist, and 8 months later I found myself getting baptized. I was baptized with the Holy Spirit and repented and renounced every belief I had throughout my whole life that wasn’t of the Truth.
One night, under a storm of spiritual warfare, I realized that reiki and crystals weren’t keeping these demons inside of me and around me at bay enough. In a desperate attempt to calm this demonic storm, I looked up prayer and found a pastor speaking in tongues. For a minute, the demons fled and I saw the reality of all the stuff I made agreements with. This is what led me to get baptized. I have fully repented, rejected, renounced, denounced and forsaken every single belief and sin I’ve made towards the Lord when it comes to idolatry and witchcraft.
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit gave me salvation at the depths of my hell as a gift not because of my good works. They never took away my salvation, but the power of the Holy Spirit led me to the saving grace of my Father God and Lord Jesus Christ. Today, I have no need to rely on the world when I have my Savior and King. My full allegiance belongs to the Holy Trinity forever, and I am continuing to repent and do God’s holy will. I’ve read the Bible and can’t believe all the deception that has strayed me and lots of others away. God is my true firm foundation and the bridegroom of my heart and spirit.
