Eternal life
I went from religion to a relationship with the giver of eternal life.
I was raised in church and was in a happy, functioning family. My parents had good jobs, a nice home, and a son and a daughter(me). I thought I was a Christian and could have told you about Jesus. I knew that he was the Savior of the world who died for our sins. But it was only head knowledge much like George Washington being our first president and Abraham Lincoln freeing the slaves. It didn't resonate with me on a personal level.
As a preteen, my family experienced the birth of a baby which rocked our settled routine. Next, 3 grandparents died in a 4 month period. My father decided to cope with that by going to night school all week to pursue a 3rd degree, leaving my mom to deal with 2 preteens, a baby, a job, the home. My ideal life had crashed in 7 months. We dropped out of church.
When my friend invited me as a young teen to her church, I eagerly accepted. For the first time I heard about how I could know for sure I was going to heaven. Thank God it resonated with me and I received eternal life.
I have had peace through all of life's crazy plot twists since that day. Nothing has overcome that peace and assurance that I will be in heaven with God.
During this time of covid, the restrictions have been challenging but I've never felt fearful. I've had peace that God will get me through. Knowing I have eternal life with Jesus has taken away any fear of getting covid and dying as that would just be my entrance into eternal life.
Every day of life has been full of God's peace and joy even when I've gone through intense trials. I know that will only continue and will amplify when I die and step into heaven.
