Empty, Even in Success
My successful life felt empty until I received eternal life.
Before I received eternal life I was unfulfilled. Life seemed meaningless.
In my teenage years, my quest to fill my life with meaning led to multiple arrests, juvenile hall and lots of trouble. I wanted to change and I thought that success and achieving my childhood dream of becoming a pilot would provide me with fulfillment. So I worked hard, succeeded in school, earned my wings as a Marine Corps aviator, and successfully commanded Marines. These achievements appeased me somewhat, but it didn't fill the void I had, I still felt empty even in the midst of success. At the end of the day, I would come home, slump into my couch, and wonder if life was supposed to be so bland. It seemed like there was no purpose to my life.
Then I discovered how to have eternal life and the world began to make sense and my purpose in life became clear.
Now that I have eternal life my days are richer and fulfilling — now there is meaning and purpose in my life, I see things differently as life makes more sense as I view life through the teachings of the Bible.
Shortly after receiving eternal life, I went on a combat deployment and instead of trudging through the day-to-day missions, I was able to carry on confidently knowing that God had given me a purpose greater than myself, it is an eternal purpose that continues to bring meaning into my life.
Along with meaning and purpose I'm comforted to know that I have assurance of eternal life and that after I breath my last breath on Earth, I know my next breath will be in Heaven.
