Dick's personal story of redemption

I trusted God’s Word and, by faith, received the Lord Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior by inviting Him into my heart when the invitation was given at an evangelistic service at the Red Lion Faith Chapel, Southampton, NJ when I was 13. I hold to the belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is part of the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Ghost and that Jesus is the one and only redeemer from sin (mortal corruption) who grants eternal life for all who confess and place their trust in Him for forgiveness. I praise God for His glorious unmerited gift and love for me - unworthy as I am.

I have suffered a few heart attacks and with each one, I remembered Jesus promise to be with me always and that in the end (when my body dies), I will be with Him for eternity.

Since my acceptance by Jesus, I cling to the blessed hope of salvation even though I often fail to obey all of God's commandments and precepts, I know that as long as I turn from my sins, He is always ready to forgive and that my hope for salvation is never lost due to His grace, mercy and faithfulness to His promises

Having the assurance of cleansing from sin and eternal life in Jesus means that my life on earth is just the beginning yet is an opportunity to serve Jesus in gratitude for the precious gift He gave to me by dying and conquering death to redeem me.

When I was 18 and careless I drove too fast down a hill toward a curve and saw ahead that the road was icy. I thought for sure I could not reduce speed in time and would skid into the tress on the side of the road. But miraculously, my car did not skid, but held to the road around the curve. I believe to this day, that God in His mercy, intervened and saved me from a serious accident because He had a further purpose for my life ahead on this earth.

Because I firmly believe the Word of God and that all His promises are true and will be fulfilled, I have a firm faith that when my body dies, I will live on in God's care for eternity.
