Dealing with Difficult News

I am glad that I have eternal life because of the fact that it helps me to face the future with confidence and to face certain fears in life. One of the things that I am constantly faced with because of my job and have even had to face in my own personal life is the reality of sickness and death.

A number of years ago, I had a very good Christian friend who was older than me but he and his wife were like family to me. I lived with them for a period of time when I was in college. In his 50's, my good friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Treatments weren't helping him and he knew that he was going to die. I was able to be with him the day before he died. On an Easter Sunday, God called him home. He faced death with a peace that had to be from God. We were both confident in the fact that even for a short period of time we would not be able to see each other, we had peace that we would be able to see each other again in heaven some day.

The same peace that God gave me and my Christian friend is the same peace that God can give to you. You can know for sure that you have eternal life and will be in heaven with God some day.
