Coming to Know My Savior and Lord
As I desired to be approved by God, He revealed that the way was by knowing Him.
Before I received eternal life I was always concerned that, although I tried to live right, maybe I wasn't good enough to deserve it.
Especially at times when I would get angry and yell at a family member, or was putting my selfish interest before another. As a teenager I often stormed off to my bedroom, after arguing loudly with my mother, then feeling so guilty, knowing I wasn't honoring her as God intended for me to do, and she deserved.
Years later, I learned God really answered prayer, and therefore He did care! My mother in law prayed I would be hired for an employment position that I greatly needed. She had taken the call for me, while visiting....I thought she was sweet, but silly to expect such a prayer to be answered by God. Months after my interview, I was hired, after the employer told me he finally realized I was the one that was "supposed" to have the job! (He, also was a believer like my mother in law. Attending a women's Bible study, recommended by co-workers, I heard for the first time that I should bring my life as a "living sacrifice to God, " because He died in my place. Since one can ever measure up, that's why He died for us; but I did have to come to Him, admit my need and I then could receive His "unspeakable" amazingly wonderful gift.
After I confessed to God I was guilty, received His priceless gift, and gave myself to Him, I knew that I was cleansed and forgiven. I never doubted my salvation again, and peace had replaced my fear.
When my son was in a serious accident years later, I saw, even before we knew to pray, God's hand of grace was covering every aspect of the crises, as each would arise. There was no place for fear to take hold. And when my husband and I had health concerns, requiring surgery, again the peace of the Lord, His abounding grace covered every aspect of the trials.
His living word provides strength and guidance for each day that comes, and I see His amazing grace, mercy, and faithfulness as I look back over the years that have passed. Why would I doubt anything He has promised, especially that I have eternal life, when I experience this abundant life each day as He holds m hand.
