Britny's Testimony
Always respond with love.
I've always believed in God but I never made a full commitment until the last few years. Before that, I had terrible anxiety and regular panic attacks. I had worries of never being good enough, struggled with forgiveness and patience; and while I still struggle with these from time to time, God always brings me peace.
In early 2020, my mom and I had a falling out that resulted in us not speaking to each other for two years. In 2022, she was diagnosed with cancer. The day she found out, she called me and we reconnected. She fought hard but lost her life in December of 2023 and all I could think of is how I regretted losing those two years with her and not ever being more patient with her. I sometimes wonder how our relationship could have been had we not disagreed all the time and I just met her where she was. During that two year break, I could feel God putting it on my heart to forgive her but I was stubborn and kept saying that I wasn't ready. We put all those things aside that last couple of years. I felt his undeniable presence through the entire experience and it resulted in me feeling closer to God than ever. I've learned to love people where they are at, no matter the difference in opinions. And to always respond in love. (try)
Once I became closer to God, I have strived to be a better person each day and to help others when I'm able to do so.
I now no longer hold grudges, I'm not as angry as I used to be. I try harder to see the beauty in things.
I don't have a particular story for how positive my life is now. God provided me with the greatest husband and continuously blesses us even when it doesn't feel like a blessing at the time but we know it's for the greater good.
Life may be hard but it's a short walk compared to walking through eternity with God in heaven.
