Anti-christ to Christ
Anti-christ to Christ
As someone who completely rejected God and the Bible, I kept myself busy with cheap thrills, and worldly aspirations. If I got bored I acquired new hobbies, and convinced my friends to participate in them. My meaning of life was unsure, I just wanted to get better at things people could praise me for, and have fun. This was my life from teen to young adulthood. I did not feel like I needed to be "saved" from anything. I felt religion altogether was ridiculous.
I vividly remember sitting at a bar one night with friends. This was a typical routine. But this particular night I was observing the vanity and stupidity. Friends kissing strangers, drunken utterances coming from everyone's mouths. I was at the moment convicted and convinced there had to be more to life than this. Ironically in this time frame I was on a path to discredit and destroy the Bible. I was not succeeding, because I was starting to see that objective evidence was starting to favor the Bible. Hence, that very night I began to re-evaluate the possibility of the soul, and eternity.
After much time of attempting to disprove the Bible, the Bible disproved me. But I did not know where to begin as far as "church" went. I would visit here and there, but unfortunately many places I visited seemed gimmicky, or all about entertainment or feelings. Nor did I see reverence that I saw in the Bible as a whole. I did not commit to any one place, nor did I make a true commitment to Jesus. It was not until a friend reached out to me and started studying with me. She introduced me to her preacher, who clearly wielded with Word, and used scripture for every single aspect to prove how to saved, and how to commit to Jesus. Also, scripture was used to explain exactly what the church is, what church does, and how Jesus wants His church to be. After a few months of studying I was fully convinced through scripture, of what I needed to do, and who I needed to be. Long story short: Salvation: Romans 10:17, Hebrews 11:6, Mark 16:15-16, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:21, 38, Acts 3:19, Acts 8:37-39, Acts 22:16, Romans 10:9-13, 1 Peter 3:21. Cost of following Jesus: Luke 14:25-35. The church Jesus built and died for: Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:4, Acts 2:42, Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:25-34, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, Romans 16:16 I was not only saved, but understood I needed to be the person God calls me to be for His Glory. Salvation is the gateway to living a life in surrender and service to God.
Purpose. The Reason for life, for all men.
The Gospel changes everything. It changes how you see relationships. It changes how you see work. It changes how and why we do the things we do. It changes our perception of the time we have on this earth. God is good. He works through the impossible, and He is greater than the highs and the lows. He is faithful in all circumstances. His providence and love has always been a constant presence in my life. No one and nothing compares to Him.
1. Jesus promised in Mark 16:16 He who believes and baptized shall be saved. 2. Jesus promised if you walk in the light as He in the light we have fellowship with Him. 1 John 1:7 3. Jesus promised if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 4. The physical and historical evidence of the validity of the scriptures is unmatched. 5. Numerous promises and prophecies from the Old testament have been fulfilled, proving that God is truly faithful, and that He is a Man of His Word. 6. God has answered innumerous prayers in my life. I have seen Him heal, I have seen Him provide, I have seen Him make a way of no way. I have seen His love for His saints, and for those that are lost.
