A Transformed Life

I had an emptiness in my life.

I attended church from a very early age, Sunday schools, church services, as a youth I sang in a youth worship group, and was even baptized. However, I never really embraced any of it in my heart. When I left home at 18 for military service, I would occasionally continue to attend church, but still, nothing more than it. I was a nice guy, respectful, and hard-working, but deep down I was still searching for something. As I progressed in my military career, I continued going to nightclubs, drinking beer, listening and dancing to music, hooking up with various women, and this pattern would continue every week and every weekend. I remembered always looking forward to going to the clubs, having fun, and trying to hook-up. During this time I was still attending church services fairly regularly, but just as an attendee. One of my older sisters would regularly call me to chat about my secular life or about our family, and as long as our conversations were focused on those items, I enjoyed our conversations. However, just prior to us ending our phone calls, she would always ask me about my relationship with God and my church life; and always, her questions felt like a "pain" stabbing at my heart. I simply didn't want to listen to this part of our conversation, but nonetheless, I still received her phone calls and enjoyed speaking with her. But, I still never changed my behaviors or lifestyle.

I went home shortly after entering a nightclub, got down on my knees, cried out to God to come into my life, to forgive me for my life, and asked Him to save me.

I now have a sure purpose in my life and am truly fulfilled.

I now no longer look to the things or people of this world to give me fulfillment or purpose. I have discovered that only God can give me real and true purpose. I now know that my purpose in life is to worship and honor God in every part of my life and knowing that He and He alone is my peace, my hope, and my fulfillment in life. I have unspeakable joy and purpose in my life and it is only because of my relationship with God.

As a result, I know for sure that when I die I will go to heaven and that I have eternal life.
