A Regular Story
As I have walked this journey, I have discovered that beneath my fear and insignificance are missed guided beliefs about God. We live in a world that says "achieve, work harder, you're not enough, and your too much all at the same time, but all of these are met with hope and freedom in Jesus. I have a solid assurance that I am loved and valued by him.
I have struggled with fear and self-worth my whole life. But in Jesus I find value, peace, comfort, and purpose.
My conversion was very simple. A young girl receiving the Lord with hardly any sweeping tale of tragedy to be saved from is not much to write about. Hollywood would surely not make a movie about it. But as unremarkable as my conversion was, the very simplistic nature of it is what makes it so miraculous. I think we all expect a wild story, but what about the little girl who is struggling with fear and self-worth? For the God of the universe to come and plant something real, true, and fierce in that little person, well that's a tale that would rival any murder spree, drug-fueled rampage, testimony in history.
I had never known life apart from attending church. Nevertheless, I was my own person and fully capable of real acceptance or rejection of the truth. I came to realize that my true value and security could only be found in God. I made a formal commitment of faith one rainy day praying with my mother. I knew that day I belonged to God, and I had a place in Heaven when I die.
