A Part of My Testimony

Before I received eternal life I was self-righteous and self-indulgent

I remember all I cared about inwardly, was thing's that benefited me, things that could make me better than everyone else, and things that satisfied my desires.

Then through the means of the Gospel, God gave me a new heart with new desires for Him.

Now that I have eternal life I no longer have hope in anything or anyone else for salvation except Christ.

I once held onto the idea that because I grew up in a Christian home, went to church, read my bible, prayed, and etc. I was saved. And ever since Christ saved me I now understand that I was living with a false hope, but now I cling to Christ alone for my salvation.

Had God not given me a repentant heart and hate for sin, I would still be living with a false hope that I had. But now through the faith Christ gave me through His gospel, He has clothed me with His garments of salvation and I have full hope that when I die I will have eternal life with God, not because of anything I did or have ever done, but because of Christ who saved me.
